Guide to UHID Number: Understanding the Benefits

PHR Address

In line with the Digital India Initiatives, the UHID was taken over by the Government of India (GoI) as part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. This initiative aims to bring all Indians under one digital health ecosystem, providing them with a single platform for their health records. To get your UHID number, you can register for the Ayushman Bharat Health Account.

What is the UHID number?

Unique Health Identification (UHID) is a system that was initiated by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to provide patients with a unique identifier for their health records. This identifier is a randomly generated 14-digit number that is assigned to the patient during their first visit to AIIMS. The UHID helps to document the patient’s medical history and journey while they are in the hospital.

It is an authentication tool for the beneficiary’s health records. It ensures that all the medical records of the patient are maintained under one identifier, making it easier for healthcare providers to access and update the patient’s medical history. The UHID number can also be used to assess health records with the beneficiary’s consent.

Why is Linking UHID and Aadhar Necessary?

In 2016, the AIIMS asked the government to connect the UHID and Aadhar systems. The reason behind this request is that UHID numbers are different for each hospital, but linking it with Aadhar would allow for centralized storage of a patient’s health records. This would also be useful in cases where patients forget their UHID number, as it can be retrieved through the Aadhar link.

By linking UHID with Aadhar, a universal health record for a patient can be created. This would allow healthcare organizations to easily transfer a patient’s medical records to a digital locker for convenient access at any time and from anywhere. This would also help doctors have access to accurate and up-to-date medical information for their patients.

What are the Benefits of UHID?

The UHID, which is now renamed ABHA Health ID Card, plays a crucial role in tracking and documenting a patient’s journey through the hospital. This information, which includes the date and time of the patient’s visit, the departments visited, test results, and any treatments or procedures performed, helps doctors to build a more comprehensive and accurate medical history of the patient. This, in turn, helps to reduce the risk of medical errors and improve patient management, avoiding unnecessary tests and treatments.

By obtaining an ABHA Health ID card, patients can take advantage of various benefits designed to improve their healthcare experience. This digital health ID card provides quick and easy access to all medical records, including test results, diagnoses, and medication information. The card also enables patients to easily exchange medical records with different hospitals, clinics, and doctors using PHR address aka ABHA address, allowing for better healthcare access and treatment in new locations.

The ABHA Health ID card also provides access to the Healthcare Professional Registry and the Health Facility Registry, making it easier for patients to find and connect with medical professionals and facilities. Additionally, the card is valid at AYUSH treatment centres and is especially useful during pandemics like COVID-19, allowing doctors to view an individual’s previous treatments and immunisation status.

Why Personal Health Record (PHR) is Important?

Personal Health Record (PHR) refers to a digital document or software application that contains an individual’s health information stored . It is an electronic version of a patient’s paper-based medical record and serves as a central repository of health information for an individual.

A PHR app is an application that provides a platform for users to store and manage their personal health information. This information is typically stored in a secure, online environment and can be accessed by the individual or authorized health care providers. The information in a PHR can include a person’s medical history, medication history, allergies, laboratory results, and more.

The use of PHRs has become increasingly popular due to their convenience and ability to improve communication between patients and healthcare providers. By having all of their health information in one place, individuals can better understand their health status, make informed decisions about their care, and improve their overall health outcomes. Additionally, PHRs can also help improve the coordination of care between multiple healthcare providers, reducing the risk of errors and improving the quality of care received.

FAQs

UHID stands for Unique Health Identification Number. It is a unique identifier assigned to an individual for the purpose of tracking their medical records and health information.

Downloading the UHID card is similar to getting the ABHA Health ID card, as it can be done either through a mobile application or a website.

The UHID was originally created by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). In 2021, the Indian government took control of the UHID program and incorporated it into the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which aims to create a unified digital health ecosystem for all Indians. Therefore the UHID and ABHA health ID cards can be considered to be the same thing.
