Maintain a Healthy Weight

With advancement of age, the metabolism slows down and we tend to gain weight. It would be a little challenging to lose weight when you’re in your 60’s. Try to maintain your weight in a healthy range so as to increase your longevity.

Slow Down & Sleep Well

There is a lot your body has gone through in 60 years and a lot more is happening so slow down and take more and more care of your health. Aging will affect your sleep, you won’t be able to sleep for longer hours, so take rest whenever you can. Maintain healthy sleep patterns and rest well to keep yourself mentally healthy as well.

Eat a Well Balanced Diet

It is important to eat a well balanced diet, as it will help you to stay energized throughout the day and will provide you with necessary nutrients that will help you to stay strong and healthy. Include a variety of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.

Safeguard Your Vision

Vision deteriorates with aging. It is important to have regular eye check ups and try to follow an eye care routine so as to avoid any eye related problems. Make sure that you wear sunglasses when you are exposed to direct sunlight, as exposure to sunlight can increase the risk for cataract.

Protect Your Joints

As you age you’ll notice pain in your joints, it is important to try strength training your muscles to protect them. If you have arthritis you can try doing milder forms like walking and cycling.

Ensure the Well-Being of Your Mind

Previously it was believed that the aging process ceases brain activity, however that is not the case. Research have concluded that, if you keep your brain active by doing various things like playing puzzle, learning new things or other such activities will keep your brain in a good health.

Stay Physically Active

You do not require a rigorous physical routine but some form of physical workout is very essential. Do not exaggerate, daily activity of 20-30 minutes is enough to stay active. You can include walking as a part of your daily routine to stay fit.

Stay Positive

Positivity is key to having a good and healthier life. Most people feel depressed about aging which contributes to stress and negative behavior. So make sure that you start thinking positively on how you can start your own spiritual journey.

Have an Active Social Life

It is important to have a social life, especially at this age. At this point you will want to interact with other people to keep your emotions and stress at bay. Make a routine to go out and meet other people with whom you can interact.

It is important to know and log your medical history, family history, medications and other risk factors to identify any health condition you could develop later in life and prevent errors in treatments.
